Social Work Exam Review

It's In There!

What is the the best study material for taking the Master's exam. I took it the first time in May of 2009, I did study for it from the material I received in 2004. I was confident that I passed. I hope to take it a second time- if I fail I am going to hang it up.

Can anyone tell me if the Master's Exam has questions regarding medications for a specific diagnosis? I'm taking the test a week from today. Thanks, Candace

It may ask you which of the following medications is used to treat depression etc... In my studying I have tried to have a working knowledge of the well known medications like prozac, zoloft, wellbutrin, depakote etc... and what they are used to treat.

Can you tell me if you thought Dr. D study guide helped???? I don't have her study guide and can't make up my mind if it is worth the money. I understand your frustration.

Donot give up. Try to figure out what area you really need to focus on. Is it like with me the what do you do first questions throw you off at times? or you think you know the definition but there is just one key word your missing? Also when you study do you look at the question.. read it through with the answers... then read it again and locate the answer. I also would suggest to take that answer when you select it and see if it applies to what their asking you and then move on. I know sounds crazy but at times we think we know but we end up selecting the wrong answer.... I brought this book... The complete guide to social work and crazy thing is it has helped me. I think the main focus is relaxing and trying to get the definitions and stages down for all the different areas and if you have a friend, boyfriend eg. ask them to help you study. Try to make flash cards and every night look at your flash cards before bed. These are only suggestions. I have wanted to give up and say forget it but then I think of my student loans and that make me say nooo I cannot give up. Plus we are social workers we tell our clients/ patients not to give up so why should we. i hope this has given you some encouragement. Tos

I am wondering if the passing rate is 75 % ie. 25% fails?

Why many of us fail a few times. Puzzle me...

I am confident that I will pass the exam but I am unsure of how or what specific material I should be studying. Would someone please share their study template.

Hello, I am new to this site. I just wanted to say thank you for posting these attachments. I just took the master's exam on Monday and missed passing by 1 point (needed 75). I refuse to say that I failed because I am not a failure. I was devastated especially since I had a potential job offer based on my results. I was feeling so confident when suddenly my computer froze at question 118. The computer issue was resolved but it did not help my nerves, I had to move to another computer station (crazy!!!!). I felt like I was punched in the face as I looked at my results. Today I feel stronger and I know that I will pass. Thank you again!
