Social Work Exam Review

It's In There!

I PASSED THE LCSW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm beyond happy at this point. Nothing ever gave me more anxiety and made me lose more sleep.... and despite how people always say "it was all worth it", I'm here to tell you that IT WASN'T! Nothing in life should ever create such animosity or stress! Especially a TEST! The months of waiting and studying for this test felt like I was being put on trial to defend myself against a crime -- it contradicts everything that we were taught as students of the profession. My words of encouragement for those still prepping for the exam... don't let it defeat you... THOSE LETTERS SAY NOTHING ABOUT WHO YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU KNOW...

I kept telling myself "YOU WILL PASS!" and wrote those words at the top of my scratch paper right before I started the test. Every time I felt discouraged I would look at those words and say it over and over (I think I must have done it a dozen times). Whether it truly helped me pass or not, I don't know? But it made me feel less anxious and better prepared for each question.

James: Repetition, Repetition, Repetition. That will definitely help. It may feel like you're just memorizing the answer after awhile, but you will find yourself reflecting back to your memorization when taking the test. I repeated and repeated every practice test I could get my hands on until I practically new the answer just by reading the first two words of the practice question. But on the real test, I had actually memorized so much that I was able to draw on those answers to figure out the correct answer.

My name is James and I am studying for the LISW Exam. I need tips on how to pass. I practiced with the practice exams on the Socialworkexam website but I didn't pass. The questions on the actual LISW Exam were different. Their were almost all vignettes. Please share ideas on how I might prepare for the exam. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you
